  • Efficacy of berberine in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus

    Finding: Yin, Xing and Ye, Metabolism (2008): a three-month pilot included a randomized comparison in 36 newly diagnosed adults using berberine or metformin 0.5 g three times daily, plus a separate 48-patient add-on cohort. Glucose markers improved; gastrointestinal adverse effects were reported.

    Limitations: Small, short, disease-treatment study; it cannot establish long-term safety, equivalence to medication or outcomes for this HealthyHey extract blend.
